Afternoon Forecast/Discussion 4/29/24: 70s with rain and storm chances

Temperatures as we enter this afternoon have already gotten into the 70s, with upper-level overcast to mostly cloudy skies, but it isn’t quite gloomy outside. We’ll see our high temperature pretty early on this afternoon, in the mid-70s, as we will have the potential for showers and storms from a cold front as it pushes through.

There is a some uncertainty in the timing of coverage of the rain and storms. 13Z HRRR shows rain and perhaps a few embedded thunderstorms enter the area by around 4-5PM. On the other hand, the 12Z NAMNEST indicates earlier arrival of rain and storms, at around 2-3PM.

Rain chances stick around for the overnight, providing more rain to the area for what has already been a wet April.
