Afternoon Discussion: 4/26/24

MUNCIE (CWS)– Mid to High level clouds will move into the area and temperatures will peak to the upper 60s. Rain chances increase after 4pm and there is a potential for storms tonight.

NATIONAL: Much of the nation has the potential to see some type of precipitation today and this evening. In the Pacific Northwest, there is a chance for some mixed precipitation due to cooler temperatures. Severe storms are possible in the Central Plains ahead of a cold front, as a deep low pressure hovers over the area. There is a chance for rain and storms beginning this afternoon. The dryline near the Ohio Valley will decrease the chance for increasing severity of storms in the Midwestern states. A high pressure system in Eastern NY is keeping showers and storms at bay.

LOCAL: Clouds will begin to increase this afternoon; however, warm air advection will allow temperatures to peak to the upper 60s. Surface winds will remain breezy around 13mph from the SE. Wind gusts will come into the picture around 2pm at 18-20 mph. There is a 30% chance of showers beginning at 4pm, but we will keep an eye on the timing of this system. There is a dryline in place near IN that could potentially delay the development of showers until the early evening.

That is all for now!
