Afternoon Discussion: 4/24/24

MUNCIE (CWS)- Cool and cloudy conditions are present now, but clearly will occur gradually going into the afternoon.

NATIONAL- Several parts of the country are expecting to see precipitation today, by way of either rain or mixed precip. Low pressure is impacting the Pacific NW increasing the risk for mixed precipitation.

The Southern Plains, specifically the panhandle of TX, have marginal and slight risks of severe weather as moisture and instability continues to increase. It is likely to see these storms later this evening.

In the New England states, showers and mixed precip. are likely ahead of the cold front. Winds will begin to shift NW by early evening, quickly dropping temperatures.

LOCAL- After a day of showers, temperatures have dropped due to the passing cold front. Winds are coming from the N at 9-13 mph. Afternoon temperatures will only peak to the low 50s. Clouds will gradually clear, making skies mostly sunny by late afternoon. Clearing will help with slight warm up.

That is all for now!
