Afternoon Forecast/Discussion 4/19/2024: Blue Skies Smilin’ at Carnival Setup!

Good Afternoon Cardinal Country!! It’s nice to see the sun after that gloomy and misty morning, and hope everyone was able to recover if you found yourself having trouble sleeping with the noisy storms that rolled through late last night! This afternoon appears to be much more pleasant than that, however much cooler compared to how we have been having it over the rest of this week. Temperatures are stuck in the 50s with winds out of the northwest behind yesterday’s storm trucking in cooler air from deeper into Canada. At the same time – especially early in the afternoon – we look to still have some lingering wind gusts up to around 25 mph that might make things feel colder (feels-like temps in the mid-40s). Because of this, bringing out the fall-like outfits would be en vogue for today. Those breezes slacken off to help you shed those layers throughout the afternoon.

As for sky conditions, upper-level winds are pulling a string of high clouds from a slow-moving system in the central Great Plains, but that’s all we get out of it until next week as high pressure is ruling the Cardinals Nest here through the weekend. This might effect our temperatures however the current thinking is that that looks to be minimal.

Don’t forget that the Late-Nite Carnival is in the C-3 Lot at Ball State and is on from 6pm to midnoght tonight! We expect things to be on the chilly side, so hoodies might be the fashion for then, but no system rolling through to provide any precip chances. While we want it to be warmer for the Carnival, that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t still be an enjoyable one if we dress a little warmly!

Have a great Friday & as my friend & fellow forecaster @ommoster would say, “…an even greater weekend ahead!”
