Rainy Pattern Continues, Flooding Concerns

Good morning Cardinal Country!

The past 24 hours has been nothing but rain. Continue to wear your rain gear or use your umbrella as more rain is in the forecast for today! Chance of precipitation is around 70%. With that in mind, we do have flooding concerns based on how much rain we have seen since Wednesday afternoon and evening. So far, Muncie has seen roughly between 2.5 and 3.0 inches of rain since yesterday. A RIVER FLOOD WARNING is in effect for the White River portions of Delaware County.

The reason for the River Flood Warning for the White River in Muncie is the Flood Stage observed at the White River is at a minor level. According to the National Weather Service, the Flood Stage is at 9 feet, which means we could see some minor flooding occuring at the White River and the surrounding low lying areas. In addition to the River Flood Warning, we do have a Flood Advisory in effect for Delaware County until 3:15pm EDT for the concern of flooding in low-lying areas and poor drainage topographies. With all of the flooding threats and warnings in place, remember, if you see roads that are covered in flood waters, TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN!
