Morning Forecast/Discussion 4/1/2024: A Quiet Finish to the Morning (& that’s no April Fool’s Joke)

Good Morning, Cardinal Country! Interesting weather we are having along this frontal boundary that’s dancing back and forth, and the active weather is expected to continue after a morning respite in the action. It’s nice to see the sun poking through the high clouds over the area, which has helped to warm things up quicker than originally expected. We see this being a key element in the rest of this morning’s weather, but clouds still lurk as some moisture rolls through. Based on how the atmosphere looks & where our boundary is set up, we see some NE winds developing and that could be one “fly in the ointment” (so to speak) as that carries some cooler air. Another element is the moisture in the mid & upper-levels which might serve to make things cloudier at times. The burst of sun has given us some optimism to clear up skies & warm temperatures up a bit for this morning forecast, but this is the calm before the storm as our area is under a slight risk of severe weather from the Storm Prediction Center for this evening. We expect that storms have the capability of producing large hail, heavy rainfall and gusty winds at this time with the activity arriving around or after 6-7pm. Stay tuned & stay awesome!
