Morning Forecast/Discussion 3/31/2024: Happy Easter!

Good morning, and Happy Easter to all! Temps are in the lower 40s, with showers staying to our south. We stay quiet this morning, and even into the afternoon under partly cloudy skies. Temps this morning get into the mid-to-upper 40s to around 50 degrees by lunchtime.

Afternoon temps reach the lower 60s in the afternoon, with highs around or just over 60 degrees.

Winds are from the east currently, and are expected to shift to the SE for Easter lunch, at a calm 5-10 mph.

Although we may be quiet this morning and for the afternoon, we’re tracking chances for showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be strong/severe.

Strong/Severe Weather Possible in the evening and overnight hours Sunday:

Were tracking shower/storm potential after sunset. Some of these storms may be strong to severe.

Main Threats: Large hail and damaging winds.

Timing: 9 PM tonight through 6 AM Monday morning.

Additional Notes: A frontal boundary will push east today from IA/MO. Storms may fire off from the frontal boundary as it moves on by overnight. A couple rounds of storms may move in through Muncie past sunset. One round looks to move in just after 9 PM, with more rain chances lingering behind. Another round of rain/storms may move through just before sunrise Monday morning. Storms north of the warm front will be elevated, with primarily a hail threat and no tornado threat. However, any storms that stay along the warm front or south will be more surface-based, which could allow for possible low-level storm rotation, which will be important to monitor for tornado potential. Make sure to keep an eye out for updates from the National Weather Service office in Indianapolis, and the Storm Prediction Center for updates throughout today as we see that warm frontal boundary pushes through later today.
