Morning Forecast/Discussion 3/30/2024: Tracking afternoon storm potential

Good morning! A few rain showers hung around Muncie to start 9AM, but they have since moved out. A weak disturbance has been moving through. This disturbance will feed us warm air this afternoon, and we’ll be keeping an eye on some potential for thunderstorm development this afternoon as well as skies clear.

Temps should get into the mid-50s by lunchtime.

The rest of the morning will see skies clearing! Skies average to partly cloudy conditions once we get into the afternoon, with temps looking to reach 70º in Muncie for the high temperature. It will be nice and warm this afternoon!

With these warm temps, we’ll be tracking a marginal risk for Muncie with some storm potential this afternoon. Main threat is large hail as the sunshine could destabilize our atmosphere this afternoon.

There will be some breezy conditions as well, with winds from the SW this morning, shifting W this afternoon. Sustained winds look to be around 10-15 mph, with some breezy times up 27 mph possible.

Overnight temps get into the low-to-mid-40s.
