Evening Forecast/Discussion. 3/20/24: The temperature drop!

Good Afternoon, Cardinals!! We have reached the high temperature of 49 degrees so far-just about 8 degrees above normal (41 being the average)-but we only stop there as temperatures continue to drop throughout the evening.

One of the potential reasons we’re experiencing such a decrease in temperatures is because Indiana is undergoing a cold front decreasing the temperatures. Another potentiality is because of the Jet Stream. The Jet Stream is a river of air that separates the warm from the cold. It also plays a role in steering fronts. Spring in Indiana is a period of transition for the Jet Stream meaning we experience mixes of warm periods and cold periods within the month. This could just be another period of cooling for the month of March.

Looking at tonight we’re going to see these temperatures drop nearly 27 degrees. 49 to 22 degrees within the span of just a couple of hours. We could even potentially see a beautiful sunset with the clear skies we’re having. Luckily tonight will be just as clear as it was today! Colder weather isn’t the most enjoyable thing to some people during this time, but hang in there Cardinals, warm weather will come amongst us again soon. Have a great evening!
