Morning Forecast/Discussion 3/19/2024: March Wx Madness!

Good morning!

Temps around the area, as of 9:00 AM EDT, are sitting in the mid-to-upper 20s, with Muncie at 29º. Throughout the morning our temps will climb into the mid-to-upper 30s by noon.

Something we’re tracking here in the CWS room are those pesky winds. Wind speeds have picked up to 13 mph since 9AM, and it’s starting to get gusty out there, with a gust of 26 mph at the bottom of the hour. For those who don’t like this wind, you’ll have to deal with it for now as we have these winds increase throughout this morning and the afternoon. Winds from 15-25 mph will be possible, with even some gusty moments of 40 mph on the table. If you have any light or loose outdoor objects, be sure to bring them inside. There may be moments where you feel like this guy below.

In terms of cloud cover, at least there is little to none of that! High pressure is around for the time being, which is keeping us sunny to mostly sunny and dry. In fact, the relative humidity will get low enough this afternoon to prompt an elevated fire danger this afternoon, thanks to both low atmospheric moisture and high winds. Avoid burning any materials today until the winds calm down in a couple days.

High temperatures today get into the 50s, so we have a brief return to Spring, which is about our average high temperature as well!

More breezy conditions are in store for Wednesday, but the sunny skies stick around, with cooler highs compared to today.
