Afternoon Discussion 3/18/24

Winter is back here in Muncie this week. Freezing temperatures are expected to stick around for the next few days, especially in the morning hours. This afternoon we are looking at the potential for some lake-effect snow making its way down to Muncie. Chances for these scattered snow showers are 40% from 1-2 pm. Chances for snow remain until around 7 pm this evening. Winds will be picking up this afternoon as well with winds gusting up to 21mph at times. The sky will remain overcast for the remainder of the day and will begin clearing out by later tonight with tomorrow being a warmer and sunnier day.

Across the country, things are looking mostly quiet as well. Chances for snow are possible in the upper Great Lakes and northeast regions with temperatures across the east being below average. The rest of the country for the most part will be dry with notable exceptions being in the southwest and Florida. Flordia today has a marginal chance for some severe weather with a 2% tornado risk along the eastern coast and a 5% risk for damaging hail and winds. The southwest region is looking at chances for regular thunderstorms with the potential for storms in San Diego, Flagstaff, and Pheonix around 40% later this evening.
