Forecast Discussion & 5-Day

Good morning and Happy Friday!

Scattered showers were present early this morning for the central part of the state and some areas north of Interstate 70.  The southeastern winds are bringing in warm air and moisture. Increasing moisture should lead to more widespread rain as we continue into the day. Models suggest that the likeliness of rain will increase during the morning commute. Roads and highways could be increasingly wet, and some pooling could occur in some areas.

The chance for severe weather is low,  being that the CAPE, or convective energy, is low. Some areas could experience heavy rainfall. Warm air advection will impact much of the area as the winds slowing become more southerly, as mentioned before. The dense cloud cover will keep temperatures relatively steady as it acts as a blanket. Temperatures begin to drop to the mid-40s tonight.

Rain will remain with us today and much of tomorrow. As the rain system moves out, cooler air will begin to set in on Sunday. Winds shift to NW and pick up and become blusterous as well. Sunny skies and warm weather will return early next week, with temperatures in the 60s!

Have a great day!
