Good Afternoon, Cards!

Today is an exciting day for weather! We are on track for temperatures to reach the low 70s for today’s high, and we are expected to break 70 by around 1 pm. Enjoy the warm weather while you can, as rain is expected as we move into the afternoon/evening hours. There is a slight chance of rain between 2 pm and 4 pm, with probability increasing in the hours following. Thunderstorms are likely after 4 pm through the rest of the night.

We are still under the Hazardous Weather Outlook issued this morning. These storms may be severe, with the threat of high wind gusts up to 45 mph, large hail, and the possibility of tornadoes. On the SPC convective outlook, the state of Indiana is the center for severe weather today for all layers.

SPC Day 1 Convective Outlook: Severe

The biggest threat will likely be hail, as the state is within a 15% hatched area. For the hail outlook, areas are categorized by how likely an area will recieve hail with a diameter of 1 inch. The hatched area represents an area that will likely recieve hail with a diameter of 2 inches or larger.

SPC Day 1 Convective Outlook: Hail

Areas in southern Indiana are under a hatched 10% risk. A hatched tornado risk shows the probability that the tornado will likely be an EF-2 or greater. In the event of a tornado, find the most interior room in the building with no windows. Make sure your phone is charged, with weather alerts active or use a weather radio to keep track of the storms and any threats that it may bring. Stay safe and weather aware!
