Morning Forecast/Discussion, 2/19/2024: Happy Weather for a Happy President’s Day

Good Morning & Happy President’s Day, Cardinal Country! We’re beginning a sunny rebound from the wintry weather! (Well, that’s what winter should still be doing for this time of year, but with the nicer conditions today, who’s complaining!?) We were at 20 degrees when business started here at the Cardinal Weather Service Forecast Office, but we are almost at 30 degrees now, so we are well underway with a warm-up with the sun offering some solid help. It’s a cool morning with the snow on the ground causing some ever-so-slight fog in patchy & low-lying areas, with the relatively warmer air blowing in over that. Still, a high-pressure system with its dry sinking air & the sun’s influence should mix any of that patchy fog/mist/haze out with temperatures warming famously up into the middle 40s (about 5 or so degrees warmer than usual for this time of year according to local climate data). Light winds should keep things from feeling too much cooler, so you may find yourself either opening up that winter coat or trading in for a lighter jacket with your closet as you make your way through the rest of this morning! Enjoy & have a wonderful Monday!
