Good afternoon, Cardinals!
A High-pressure center resting over North Atlanta is keeping cloudy conditions at bay, bringing in some pleasant weather for much of the surrounding areas. Some light rain is possible for Central Missouri and Southern Illinois, but only trace amounts are expected; nothing impressive.
Winter storm advisories, watches, and warnings are dominating the western portion of the country. Warm air advection and moisture are the main causes for the severity of these systems. The presence of the Rockies also aids in the lifting of air. The possible snow accumulation ranges from a few inches to a foot in some areas. Snow and wind are the greatest threats that could make travel fairly difficult at higher elevations.
After a long streak of gloomy and cloudy conditions, the highly anticipated sunshine has returned to Muncie! There will be some cloud cover today, but we will still experience sunshine throughout the day. The solar energy and the 15mph SW winds are aiding in the warmup we will experience by this afternoon. With a high nearing 50°, today is shaping up to be a great start to the new month!
Have a great day, and enjoy the pleasant weather!
