Evening Update, Freezing Rain Tonight

Good afternoon! It isn’t too cold out right now as we sit at around 34 degrees. Temperatures will not fluctuate much over the next 18 hours as we will only drop a few degrees. We remain dry for now, but we are tracking a system that will bring us freezing rain accumulation this evening. Expect precipitation to begin within the next few hours or so. This precipitation will begin as rain but freeze upon immediate contact when it hits paved surfaces. This is because it has been so cold the past few days. Even just a little bit of accumulation on roadways will make them hazardous to drive on. Due to this system coming in, the National Weather Service has put us under a Winter Weather Advisory starting at 4 PM EST and lasting until tomorrow at 10 AM EST. This advisory mentions possible ice accumulation up to one-tenth of an inch on the roads. The advisory also says that the most dangerous travel conditions will be overnight and during tomorrow morning’s commute. Be cautious on the roads as they could look okay to drive on, but still be slippery. Be safe and pay attention to travel advisories as this system approaches.
