Afternoon Forecast, 1/19/2024: The Arctic is Back (for a Limited Time Offer)

Good Midday & Happy Friday, Cardinal Country! Brisk out the door today with the bitter wind chills and snow showers with some blowing/drifting dominating the afternoon weather picture with temps steady then falling as we go towards sunset.

Two important things to note: The National Weather Service has continued the *Winter Weather Advisory* until 1 pm for light snow & blowing snow. A *Wind Chill Advisory* also goes into effect from 7 pm tonight to 10 am tomorrow. Feels-like temperatures are expected to be as cold as -20.

Dressing in layers to beat the cold & wind will be just as important this afternoon. We have already hit our high (midnight), but steady temperatures in the mid & upper teens with 15-20 mph winds gusting 25-30 mph at times will create feels-like temperatures at or just below 0 (1 to -3). Add that to the slippery conditions on area roads & walkways, making getting around messy. To reflect this, Delaware County is under a Travel Advisory until further notice, so clear your vehicles of snow & ice & allow extra time to reach your destinations. Additional light accumulations are possible in brief snow showers, so keep an eye on those changing conditions if you’re to be out and about this afternoon. Keep it tuned here for further updates, and have a safe afternoon!!
