What goes up, comes down, then back up again…

Good Midday from the Cardinal Weather Nest, my fellow human beans! I have a question for you: What was with that groundhog in Pennsylvania? Well, the upper 50s and 60s you saw earlier (and what may be reappearing on the horizon next week) may have caused you to ask that! Punxsutawney Phil might gain some validity with these temperatures we end the week with, but that looks to be short-lived. Today, we have a system that will be bringing in colder air throughout the day (hence the green down arrow) and we will cloud up as winds switch to the W then NW, and some upper/mid-level moisture wraps around the potent low-pressure system brining those fierce winds today. Speaking of those, we have a High Wind Warning in effect until 7PM today with wind gusts to 60mph expected through the afternoon, diminishing through the evening. *Make sure you drive carefully, especially in high-profile vehicles, and be sure to bring in your trash as soon as you can – it could wind up down the road! Trees, branches, and power lines may be downed in some areas as well, so be sure to plan alternate routes around where any have been reported!* Otherwise, we clear out gradually as Canadian high-pressure rolls in, and that reinforces our cold air with highs only getting into the upper 30s on Friday. As the winds are much calmer and the skies are much clearer Friday night, (and even Saturday night to some extent), be on the lookout for Jack Frost to make his return. Jack looks to have a somewhat quick exit as we head through the weekend into next week, however, as the high moves and the wind switches around it quickly warms us up into the upper 40s and lower 50s, with additional warming expected Monday ahead of some systems that bear some watching Tuesday into the end of the week next week for windy/rainy conditions. Fly safe, but use some discretion in that wind, Cardinals!
