Afternoon Update 1/20/2023

A forecast showing snow showers along with cloudy and cool conditions

Good Friday Afternoon from the Cardinal Weather Nest! Do you like cheesy jokes? I know a few “gouda” ones, and humor can light up what we here at the Cardinal Weather Service will continue to call a dreary day for today’s afternoon update. The gray skies will remain a dominant part of the weather picture for the rest of the day (sad face). However, there’s a bit of a snow lover in me (and maybe a little out there in each of you out there), some snow flurries and showers that will grace us with their snow-globe-like presence along with these clouds due to some upper-level energy & leftover moisture along the back side of yesterday’s frontal system responsible for crashing our temperatures from 56 yesterday to the mid-30s today. We also have a somewhat tight pressure gradient along with the upper-level wind allowing for breezy winds to filter through to the surface occasionally with the heavier snow showers. We do see some reprieve or at least a break in the clouds along with somewhat warmer temperatures tomorrow before weather conditions become cloudy and cooler before our next system with the chance for snow on Sunday. Thanks for stopping on by our webpage, and have a safe and pleasant flight into the weekend, Cardinals!
