Next Sunday, (March 15th), kicks off the 2020 Indiana Severe Weather Preparedness Week! This is a week-long, educational effort by the National Weather Service (NWS) to teach people about “the hazards of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, and to help everyone be prepared when severe weather occurs (NWS)”
Each day, from March 15th to March 21st, will feature a different topic:
- Sunday, March 15th: Kick-Off
- Monday, March 16th: Severe Weather Outlooks & Watches
- Tuesday, March 17th: Warnings
- Wednesday, March 18th: Response: Statewide Tornado Drill
- Thursday, March 19th: Recovery
- Friday, March 20th: Weather-Ready Nation
- Saturday, March 21st: Wrap-Up
These topics will discuss roles of individuals, NWS, the media, and public officials during severe weather, severe weather preparation and safety, response during/after severe weather hits, and several other important topics!
