Today in Weather History

February 18th, 1989

On this day 31 years ago a low pressure system came in straying from the coast of North Carolina. This system brought in freezing rain along with heavy snowfall to Virginia and both of the Carolinas.

Virginia experienced upwards of 18 inches of snow in some places. While North Carolina had freezing rain that reached 2 inches of thickness!

If this Tuesday isn’t going as planned, be thankful you did not have to worry about a blizzard totaling upwards of 18 inches adding to your stress.

Have a wonderful rest of the week!
