The long-awaited winter storm has finally arrived! A Winter Storm Warning is in effect across the area until late tonight/early tomorrow morning. A rain-snow line has set up a little further north than anticipated, causing areas like Muncie to experience a rain/snow mix. However, we expect this to transition to mostly snow later on this morning. The peak intensity of the snowfall will come this afternoon, and winds will pick up as well, with gusts as high as 35 mph possible. This combination of snow and gusty winds will create hazardous travel conditions and low visibility at times. This has been a complicated forecast, and snow totals could vary quite a bit across the region. All said and done, we expect 4-8″ of snow across the area.
After the snow ends, a bitterly cold air mass will move into the region. Temperatures tomorrow and Monday will struggle to reach the double digits, and overnight lows will fall below zero.
Stay safe this weekend!
