This Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, will likely be seeing the coldest temperatures so far this season.
The expected temperatures for that day so far are a high of 12 degrees and a low of -8, but don’t worry, it will be mostly sunny! These temperatures however are lower than that average. With an average for this month being around 34.2 degrees Fahrenheit so far, it is definitely cold. For Muncie in general, the number of days in January where temperatures are below 14 degrees Fahrenheit is less than one. In other words, statistically, this is an outlier.
The coldest temperature recorded in January for Muncie, Indiana was 25 years ago on January 18. On that day the temperature got down to -29 degrees Fahrenheit! We should be glad we are not getting down to that cold, but hopefully everyone stays warm and safe this weekend anyway!
