Over the last few days we have seen temperatures soaring in the lower 90’s. That changes today. There is a Canadian high pressure system situated over Lake Superior. Meanwhile, the remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon are slowly beginning to drift northeast into the Midwest. The Canadian high will be steering the abundance of moisture into the Muncie area and the surrounding region, starting this afternoon.
Today began with overcast skies with rain approaching. There will be rain in the Muncie area starting late this morning, and lasting through the rest of the weekend. 3-5 inches of rain are expected in the next three days, with higher accumulations possible in isolated areas. Flash flood watches are already in effect for many Indiana counties. The rainy weather will also bring cooler temperatures into the area, with temperatures hovering in the 60’s and 70’s.
