Morning Forecast 3/31/2023

It is currently 48 degrees in Muncie with some light precipitation . A 13 mph wind out of the south is making it feel a little bit cooler at around 41 degrees with wind chill. There should be a bit of a break from the rain this morning but scattered showers will continue all day.

Thunderstorms possible after 2PM. Severe weather is expected later on this evening around 11PM. Muncie is placed in the enhanced risk area according to the Storm Prediction Center meaning a widespread concentration of low-to-moderate intensity severe thunderstorms in the area. Heavy rainfall and damaging winds are to be expected with the possibility of hail. To our west supercell development is looking likely with tornados expected a few of which could be strong and long-tracked. These storms are expected to form into a line of storms called a QLCS as they pass over Illinois and into Indiana but due to the speed at which these storms will be moving there is still a tornado threat as they will reach our area before too much energy has been lost which is something to watch for this evening.
