Good morning everyone out there! We have woken up to a much different feel then what we did yesterday morning. Quite a chilly feeling we’re having this morning! As of 8am we are currently sitting at 44°F with a strong 15 mph breeze with higher gusts coming from the west thanks to the severe thunderstorms associated with a cold front that blew through the state last night. We do not expect to warm up much at all today as high’s will top out around 50°F today as Strong Northwest winds will bring in a cold winter-like weather pattern in the area.
A very sunny morning this morning however that won’t last for very long as clouds increase and there’s the chance of a rain/snow mix tonight! Yep, the calendar says winter is long over however mother nature has other ideas. In fact, growers and farmers beware! The growing season hasn’t officially begun here in Muncie, but there’s a lot of trees and plants with flowers with bulbs or even blooms. Temperatures are expected to drop to 32°F tonight with maybe even upper 20’s in the colder pockets. The strong winds of up to 40 mph expected today into tonight will keep frost limited, we will have to worry about sensitive vegetation being killed or compromised. Today would be a good time if you value flowers or sensitive plants to bring them inside to avoid the threat of the possible freeze tonight.
